Star Ceiling

Overview

A Star Ceiling is a spectacular decorative lighting system that replicates the appearance of the night sky using unique fibre optic effects. The systems are composed of a field of tiny, flexible end-lit optical fibres that emit light at their tips. Combinations of micro-sized, medium and larger cables can be employed to create the appearance of constellations and galaxies. Although we offer standardised star ceiling kits in 5-60W formats with common fibre size combinations, these systems can be customised to suit any ceiling or wall, and are infinitely expandable by increasing the number of light sources and fibre optic points.

Digilin’s star ceilings are composed of the highest quality PMMA cables in the world from Europe and are powered by the Titan (30-90W), our own in-house designed and manufactured LED fibre optic lightsource. A breakthrough in fibre optic lighting technology, Titan is a high output LED lightsource that is capable of producing a variety of unique light effects. Controllable using DALI, DMX or a toggle switch, these effects are achieved through combinations of scintillation, colour and dual colour wheels, which randomly cut and colour the light output from the LED before it reaches the cables, creating dazzling twinkle and glow effects.

Titan uses a revolutionary collimating optical lens design to inject the massive light output created by its LED array into fibre optic cables with precision, resulting in minimal losses and maximum efficiency. Drawing on the multi-disciplinary engineering capabilities of Digilin, the lightsource uses a dual liquid and fan cooling system for heat regulation of its LED array ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
