Anvers Wines Cellar Door

Illuminating a MICHELIN Star dining experience in the Adelaide Hills

  • South Australia | 2022 | Hospitality

Nestled on the southern edge of the Adelaide Hills, Anvers Wines is a family-owned winery surrounded by rolling vineyards and picturesque views across the Mount Bold Reservoir. Established in 1998, the winery has built a reputation for producing premium wines that reflect the unique character of the region. Built in 2022, the development of Anvers Wines Cellar Door transformed the property into a contemporary hospitality destination, bringing together the winery’s rich heritage with a refined new restaurant and function space. With expansive glazing, restored original buildings and sweeping views forming an integral part of the experience, the lighting needed to complement the architecture while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Anvers Restaurant Awarded MICHELIN Star
In 2026, South Australia became the first Australian state to feature in the prestigious MICHELIN Guide, marking a significant milestone for the state’s food and hospitality scene. As part of the inaugural selection, Anvers Restaurant was awarded one MICHELIN Star, with Executive Chef Connor Bishop recognised for his modern Australian approach, celebrating seasonal produce alongside wines produced on the estate.

Lighting Design
The lighting design features throughout both the interior and exterior of the property, showcasing a diverse range of applications including linear, decorative, downlights and outdoor lighting. Carefully integrated throughout the restaurant, the lighting creates a modern and inviting atmosphere while complementing the abundant natural light that fills the space.

Warm, integrated external lighting elevates the cellar door entrance by highlighting the natural stonework, landscaping and architectural details. Once inside, integrated linear lighting follows the architectural lines of the timber ceiling, adding warmth and a contemporary detail to the restaurant interior. The lighting works alongside the expansive glazing and abundant natural light to create a bright, refined and inviting dining space.

Project Outcome
Now recognised as a MICHELIN Star awarded restaurant, Anvers continues to establish itself as a standout dining destination in the Adelaide Hills. The considered lighting design works seamlessly with the architecture and natural surroundings, adding warmth and depth while reinforcing the restaurant’s contemporary character. The result is a contemporary hospitality destination that celebrates Anvers’ connection to the Adelaide Hills, seamlessly bringing together wine, food, architecture and landscape.
